| Abstract | A intensificação de extremos climáticos, o aumento da demanda, e a falta de um planejamento integrado dos recursos hídricos no Brasil vêm se tornando mais evidente ano após ano. No ano de 2014, deparamo-nos com cheias nas regiões Norte e Sul, enquanto o Sudeste e Nordeste sofrem com deficiências hídricas severas. A bacia do rio Paraíba do Sul também apresentou níveis muito abaixo do normal, caracterizando uma estiagem extrema. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a segurança hídrica desta bacia utilizando modelagem hidrológica, considerando os efeitos das mudanças de uso e cobertura da terra e no clima, o aumento da demanda nos centros urbanos e as transposições. As análises de extremos hidrológicos indicam uma redução nas vazões no primeiro período de simulação e um aumento no segundo. Todos os cenários apontam um aumento na intensidade e na frequência dos períodos de estiagens comprometendo ainda mais os usos das águas da bacia. ABSTRACT The intensification of climate extremes, the increase in demand, and the lack of an integrated planning of water resources in Brazil are becoming more evident lately. In 2014, there we flood in the North and South regions, while the Southeast and Northeast suffer from severe water deficiencies. The Paraíba do Sul River basin also presented levels well below normal, characterizing an extreme drought. The objective of this work was to evaluate the water security of this basin using hydrological modeling, considering the effects of changes in land use and land cover and on climate, the increase in demand in urban centers and transpositions. Analyzes of hydrological extremes indicate a reduction in flows in the first simulation period and an increase in the second. All scenarios point to an increase in the intensity and frequency of periods of drought, further compromising the use of water in the basin. | |||
